Tape Session is offered to selected artists with no upfront recording cost.
You retain the song rights. If a recording is commercially released, we agree the release terms in advance, based on a meaningful share of the master recording income.
Labels, managers, and A&R teams are welcome to enquire about Tape Session recordings for upcoming singles, EPs, special versions, or campaign material. Standard studio bookings are also available at my regular rate.
Concept
A unique recording experience in my small home studio in Much Hadham, Hertfordshire, recorded straight to vintage Studer A80 — minimal overdubs, no drop-ins, just live take.The sessions breathe with their surroundings — church bells, deer calls, rain, even a lawnmower — all captured as part of the atmosphere.Tape Session is designed to create distinctive analogue material around an artist’s next single, EP, campaign, or special version. It can work as a standalone release, a lead-in piece, or the beginning of a wider project.
Recording
You get the length of one reel of tape — about 30 minutes.
Up to 5,6 songs if you’re tight and ready. or you might barely manage one song if you’re shite.Best suited to vocals, acoustic instruments, keyboards, moderate amplifiers, and compact setups. Full drum kits and very loud amps are not suitable for this room.
Mixing
We’ll mix it on the same day — no plugins, all analogue, and manual automation. I may even need you to lend a hand on the faders.
